Not to be glib, but people call Fascism right-wing AND left-wing because, because people disagree on what it means to be right wing or left wing. When one calls Fascism a left-wing movement, it is a misapplication of the term, IMO. read more

Over time, anything associated with the state having power on behalf of the 'people', whether moderate or not, is called left-wing. Equally anything that opposes that, whether moderate or not, is called right-wing. Fascism grew from a form of populist nationalism, and is very authoritarian, hence not moderate. read more
