They go on about fighting and dying for the flag as if the flag itself were what mattered. (No, people, the Constitution, liberty and the rule of law are what matter.) No other nation except maybe the Danes are half so obsessed about showing respect to a piece of colored cloth. It's a symbol of the United States. read more

People disrespect the American flag because other people get upset about it and may actually notice why they disrespect the flag. Otherwise, no one would pay attention. So don’t get upset about it and they will stop disrespecting the flag. read more

Maybe to the people stomping on the flag, it was just a rectangular piece of material. Not to me, though; the American flag stood for so much more than some stars and stripes on a piece of fabric.
