Why do people disrespect the American flag so much?

They go on about fighting and dying for the flag as if the flag itself were what mattered. (No, people, the Constitution, liberty and the rule of law are what matter.) People disrespect the American flag because other people get upset about it and may actually notice why they disrespect the flag. Otherwise, no one would pay attention. So don’t get upset about it and they will stop disrespecting the flag. read more

Maybe to the people stomping on the flag, it was just a rectangular piece of material. Not to me, though; the American flag stood for so much more than some stars and stripes on a piece of fabric. To me the American flag represented the freedoms we are given here in America. Those freedoms do not come without a price. read more

The American flag is not a flag of the government. It is a symbol of who we are as Americans. Burning, shredding, trampling, or disrespecting the flag, as much as it is freedom of speech, is like saying"**** you" to the people who fought for that freedom. read more
