Why do people hate Atlanta?

Native Atlantan, lived all but 10 years of my life here. I hope I can be objective in my criticisms. Traffic - many other answers cite this reason. The traffic here is really horrific, no matter where you go. You really need to live close to your workplace or you're looking at an hour commute each way. read more

I lived in Atlanta for 2.5 years and have a few friends who still live there. I see no reason to “hate” the city. Some may resent it, especially in the south, because there was a overbearing civic pride during the 80s. But hate is a strong word. Many of these people probably envied the fact that Atlanta was getting all the attention and the money. read more

It caught me a little off guard. I assume it was because they lived in a small town and Atlanta is the big city they have dealt with the most. So Atlanta was the place that reflected all their problems with big city life. I do feel sorry for the people driving through Atlanta on their way to the beach. read more

I don't hate Atlanta, I hate the transplants that came for the hype and made the city wack. Atlanta started to become wack after Hurricane Katrina hit and the New Orleans people brought in the ratchetness to Atlanta. That's why I hate Clayton county so much. read more
