Why do people hate the Legends of Dune trilogy so much?

But no, they went with We're the Authority on Interpreting Dune, and Dune is an in-universe piece of writing now, and machines started the war, and Bene Gesserit can do magic and Paul once joined the circus with his cyborg buddy, and so an ad nauseum. read more

I say it was inconsequential because it is briefly mentioned and then dismissed. By the time Dune begins, it doesn't matter how the feud started or why, only that the two houses are blood enemies and always have been. In fact, it makes it more notable that neither house really remembers why they hate each other. read more

Many people (subjective opinion) consider Herbert's Dune series to be far better than Anderson+Brian Herbert's prequels. As such, it should be read first. However, the in-quel books are well regarded and can be read together, in chronological order. read more
