The Anglo-Saxons haven't really existed as a political power since 1066 AD, the year of the Norman invasion of England. If anyone is making this claim, they're ignorant of history or they have a distorted definition of “Anglo-Saxon.” If they mean English-speakers, that's just plain wrong. Well, Frisians were among the assortment of tribal groups we now refer to as the Anglo-Saxons. Angles, Saxons, Jutes, Frisians - all part of the same movement. Calling it an invasion is a bit of an overstatement, though; there were people living in Britain at the time, but it was pretty sparsely populated. read more
