I didn't think it was scary in the classic sense (i.e., monsters jumping out of closets). It was more suspenseful, and offered a great deal of psychological horror. The idea that a brilliant, well-educated man was a serial killer and a cannibal. read more

I think it is a crap movie, not scary at all, but back in 1960 it was considered a really scary thiller as well - it was the biggest selling movie of the year! I guess times change and what we consider "scary" now is a lot worse than 20 or 50 years ago. read more
