Why do we close our eyes when we hear loud sounds?

I thinking if it's a sudden loud sound, we might have been conditioned to expect bright light and/or flying objects that could hurt our eyes. It seems plausible because babies don't close their eyes on hearing loud sounds, so it's learnt behaviour, not entirely instinctive. read more

Perhaps we close our eyes as a deep rooted animal responce. Or perhaps its to protect out eyes, like a natural responce like when u sneeze. One of lifes great mysteries like where do all the odd socks from the washing machine go. read more
