Why do women wear dresses?

There is a lot of evidence that trouser-wearing is strongly correlated with horse riding. Many civilised societies featured both men and women wearing robes or kilts or kimonos. However the warrior class, out of necessity, would wear trousers that allowed them to comfortably ride horses. read more

The original question was simply, "Why do girls/women wear tight dresses." I don't feel these two questions are the same, as this one goes on and on about the nature of the clothing and adds in objectification and sexual provocation angles. My answer is to the original question. read more
