Its not exactly distracting the patient, what the doctors do, while giving any form of anaaesthesia. While giving general anaesthesia (in simple words where they completely sedate the patient) they keep talking to the patient to judge the level of anestheisa and the state of awareness, to check whether the patient is completely sedated or not. read more
