Why does Idaho have two time zones?

It is a function of commerce and the closest major economic area, city or otherwise. In the Boise area of the southwest Idaho, where I live, we are on Mountain Time, aligning with eastern Idaho and Salt Lake City. read more

Many states have more than one time zone. It’s generally done for convenience when there’s a fairly densely populated area near the state line. I presume northern Idaho is in the Pacific Time Zone because it’s part of the greater Spokane area. read more
