Low pressure area over North Bay of Bengal tends to pull the monsoon winds from Arabian sea strengthening the monsoon trough along the west coast. Normally this low slopes slightly south with height and this makes south of the trough to get heavy rains as the monsoon winds concentrate over these areas.
