Why does Nepal love China more than India?

The grip of China, on Nepal, is steadily tightening and of course India is getting more & more distanced. In my view, India, instead of trying to placate the Nepalese, should 1) keep a close watch on this country 2) tighten the border control & restrict access 3) monitor the China controlled Nepalese agents working in India. read more

Nepalese people feel a kinship to India — they are part of the same cultural milieu and Chinese culture is alien to Nepali culture. New Delhi and Beijing have demarcated their spheres of influence and both need a stable Nepal between them. They consult each other frequently over Nepal developments. So it doesn’t pay for Nepal’s leaders to play India off against China. We can’t eat nationalism. read more

Meanwhile, China has no deal with Nepal, nobody knows what is China doing, so Nepalis, just, simply, love the Chinese. But I am sure if they suffer a mass Chinese problem in the future, they shall unrest against China like our unrest against China before. read more
