Why does Portland have so many (or the most) hipsters?

Portland may have a reputation for being"great to raise a family in", but it's actually one of the more popular migration points for young, childless people with college educations. Hipsters like indie music. Portland's local music is all indie. Portland is a foodie town. read more

Portland, on the other hand, used to be a legitimately hipster destination until IFC made an entire TV show about Portland hipsters. The most important part of being a hipster is doing things before they were cool and, since Portlandia made being a Portland hipster cool, Portland is over. Besides, San Francisco has so much hipster culture to offer. read more
