I think it is the comparison - although I prefer sweeter whiskeys like bourbons, and rarely drink rum other than cachaca. Cigar smoke is very bitter, and to me feels very flat across the tongue. Taking a sip of whiskey after that tastes sweeter in comparison, and cuts through the flatness. read more
