Typically (again, more so in the case of polycarbonate), sunlight alone will discolor clear plastics, turning them more yellow - so manufacturers tint them blue or (less often, but common in medical devices) purple. That blue (or purple) tint eventually fades away to a more “crystal clear”; even more exposure then shifts them towards yellow. read more
