I think black is primarily chosen to be discrete, and because that's what people expect. Whilst some people like to be different, most want their camera to look like a camera. Yeah, it was night mode. Which is weird because when I placed the camera it was in color and remained color for a couple days. And then it went black and white (night mode) even though the lighting conditions haven't changed. So it's in night mode 24/7 unless I turn on a nearby light. Thanks for the reply. read more
Since the black and white cameras have an enhanced resolution, their image will be much sharper than that of a comparable color security camera. Even though the reasons are more technical based, color cameras use the sensor resources to help detect the primary colors. read more
