May 1st is a much, much older holiday than Labo(u)r day. It is a pagan spring, or fertility, festival whose origins go back into the mists of history. Appropriating it as a workers festival is a horrible piece of cultural appropriation, like changing Opal Fruits into Sunburst or Marathon into Snickers. read more
The 1st of May is May Day, which is a celebration of the end of winter, the beginning of spring and the end of the frosts. Where I live it's celebrated by a fate and a parade in the town centre, and dancing around a may-pole. read more
On 2nd May 2011 I was at school, a History's teacher was talking about Labour Day, she said England celebrates Labour Day on 1st September, I understood that England doesn't celebrate Labour Day on 1st May and I don't know why England doesn't celebrate Labour Day on 1st May as Argentina. read more
