In 1965, Asquith and Dairies joined forces to become Asda. In 1999, Asda was acquired by Walmart, and in recent years, has grown to become Britain's second largest supermarket. read more

ASDA/Walmart is not however cheap enough to compete with Lidl and Aldi which are at the bottom end of the market price wise but typically outcompete on product quality (although the shopping experience is not as pleasant). They have no market niche and until they find one will continue to flounder. read more
