Cyanide had been used by a number of states for many years and there are two issues with it: 1) it's relatively quick, but agonizing and many felt that it violated the "cruel and unusual punishment" restriction, 2) cyanide is very toxic and poses a threat to the health of anyone that handles it and the environment. read more
