Why don't helicopters fly at night but aeroplanes do?

Helicopters do fly at night, but unless its important they prefer not to. The main reason is height of flight. Airplanes usually fly at several thousand feet and usually at well established routes, as far as possible both vertically and horizontally from any hazards. Helicopters fly at hundreds of feet only and usually require more route agility. read more
