There is no SINGLE ancient alien theory. The show has thrown 1000 "sub theories or branch theories" to the point that it isn't even a single theory anymore. That's just them trying to make good television. The basis of the ancient alien theory is this "ancient aliens have visited earth since antiquity. read more

It may come as a surprise to many, but a growing number of people do believe in ancient alien theory. Critics - and the scientific community - will no doubt argue there is no proof of the theory.
