I'd add that homelessness is a difficult & complex issue, one that is not easy to fix. In my county, there are about 400 homeless people. There are over $3M in public funds spent to help (in addition to private charities). We spend a lot of money to try to fix the problem. read more

A lot of people do care about the homeless problem but there is only so much you can do - There are shelters and food drives and people hand out money and food to these people, however, there are also a portion of people who are professional panhandlers who will sit on the streets all day making good money to pretend they're homeless before driving home in a mercedes to their 3 bedroom apartment. read more
