Why don't people care about the homeless?

I'd add that homelessness is a difficult & complex issue, one that is not easy to fix. In my county, there are about 400 homeless people. There are over $3M in public funds spent to help (in addition to private charities). We spend a lot of money to try to fix the problem. read more

A lot of people do care about the homeless problem but there is only so much you can do - There are shelters and food drives and people hand out money and food to these people, however, there are also a portion of people who are professional panhandlers who will sit on the streets all day making good money to pretend they're homeless before driving home in a mercedes to their 3 bedroom apartment. read more

Therefore most people don’t care. If helping homeless people would reduce taxes and increase the minimum salary then people would care. This is why only very few people care about the homeless, and it’s also why there are so many. read more
