Why don't people drink beer with a straw?

I saw a photo of someone drinking a recreation of a 5000 year old recipe through a straw. It helps strain the grain out. Total authenticity would really require a reed, rather than a plastic or paper tube. read more

People drinking alcoholic beverages tend to want to take their time while drinking it (unless you're a freshman in college and are shotgunning it). Ooof! It always seemed to me that drinking with a straw causes more burping, like it makes you swallow more air. As burpy as beer is, drinking it through a straw would REALLY make you burpy. Plus it would look weeny. read more
