They don't own dishwashers clothes dryers or ovens because they don't think it's something they need. It's not affordability as so many Chinese are wealthy and the average price of an apartment is more than double the US. Chinese culture is very old and change takes a long long time. read more

The question shouldn't be why don't Chinese have driers but rather why Americans do. I'm British and I've never had a drier. Some of my friends have. Some use them a lot, some rarely. I never felt the need for them. Air dried clothes, and in particular outside dried clothes, feel nice to wear and need less ironing. read more
