I'm here to endorse Apichart Ponpuak. We do use chopsticks when we eat noodles and some people use them when they eat teochew porridge (ข้าวต้มกุ๊ย). Thai rice is not sticky and it is served in a plate, not a bowl, therefore it is easier to eat with a spoon. And no, we don't use knives. The meat is already chopped. read more
Well you mentioned “East Asian countries”. Guess what, Thailand is not a part of East Asia. The country is in South East Asia. We are culturally South East Asian. Originally Thai people did not use chopsticks. However, with the Chinese migration to Thailand, Thai people do now use chopsticks especially when eating Chinese food. read more
While Chinese missionaries brought chopsticks to Thailand as well, it didn't have the lasting impact that it has had elsewhere. Even Yahoo answers can take this one: Thais don't generally use chopsticks, their main utensils are forks and spoons. read more
