Some nationalist Kurds are also clearly against Turkey and want independent Kurdistan. They believe that it is impossible to live with the Turks, since majority of the Turks are happy that the Kurds don't have right to self-determination, to get education in their mother tongue and manage their own resources. read more
Syria's Kurds have long been suppressed and denied basic rights. Some 300,000 have been denied citizenship since the 1960s, and Kurdish land has been confiscated and redistributed to Arabs in an attempt to "Arabize" Kurdish regions.
