Why don't we build in classical styles anymore?

We don't generally build in a classical style because life goes on. The styles of designed objects reflect the culture and society that makes them and we no longer live in a classical society so it makes good sense that we don't see this kind of architecture produced in great quantity. read more

The circumstances of today are so different from early last century that I don’t see the intellectual justification anymore for outright rejection. Today we are more focused about building 70mph architecture instead 30mph. In my opinion roads and the automobile have lead us astray with this sort of architecture. We don't care about the little details in buildings anymore because we are driving too fast to even see it, thus, why we don't build such beautiful buildings like those are much anymore. read more
