Why has Mount Kailash not yet been climbed by anyone?

A few reasons I think. Out of respect: its sacred to 2 major faiths. This is the same reason that no one has stood on the actual summit of Kangchenjunga. It's remote, and not particularly high compared to other peaks in the Himalayas. read more

Mount Kailash in Tibet has never been climbed by any mountaineer. It is heard in stories that a mystic Tibetan Seer and poet named Milarepa is the only human being who has been able to climb the peak of Mount Kailash. read more

Wikipedia says, "There have been no recorded attempts to climb Mount Kailash; it is considered off limits to climbers in deference to Buddhist and Hindu beliefs. It is the most significant peak in the world that has not seen any known climbing attempts. read more
