Basicaly no tendrils or vines come from strawberry plants they are usually small plants . that stay close to the ground . plants that have vines use them to get more sun or to spread further which may include putting down more roots in other places so as to get more water . read more

As a laymans explanation.. climbers need tendrils to catch on to any support.. strawberry plants do not have such tendrils.. also they propagate from shoots drooping down to the soil.. hence no requirement of climbing.. this is my observation.. not scientific.. read more
