I think it might've had to do with its "stick it to the man"/rebel concept, considering the movie featured the IRA. Personally, I didn't like the movie either. I didn't like that they got praised for doing basically, whatever they felt like because it fit within the Irish-Britiish sense of justice... It was difficult for me to watch this movie. read more
