Why is Galicia part of Spain and not part of Portugal?

Galicia remained as part of the Kingdom of León, then León joined Castilla and became the Kingdom of Castilla which became very important after the "conquest" of America. Castilla and Aragon joined monarchies and finally in 1714 modern Spain was finally established by the Bourbons. read more
