Why is goat slaughtered on the festival of eid?

I am a Muslim and I do not condone the act of slaying innocent goats or chickens. Eating meat and slaying goats is a 'SUNNAH', not a 'FARD'. We can be good Muslims even without slaughtering goats or sheep on Eid-ul-Adha. People think that it is a compulsion in Islam to slay goats or eat meat. read more
