Why is Guam not an American state?

To date they have not voted to become a state. Why not? Following the admission of our last two states federal law was changed and that change to federal law actually discourages territories from voting for statehood. Stupid I know but that's what happened why did it happen? read more

Residents of Guam are considered American citizens but most feel little to no cultural connection to the rest of the USA. This same thing could be applied to Puerto Rico and any other territories of the US. read more

American samoa only has 55k people, it probably doesn't even qualify for statehood. And yes, there are some states with half a million people roughly, who are vastly overrepresented at a federal level as a result. read more
