Self love is directly connected to self esteem built up in childhood which is connected to "how nurturing or critical" our bringing was. If we are brought up in an environment where "criticism" is the norm (though apparently with good intentions) we will form habit of "self criticism" and then it is easier to love other than oneself. read more
