More than 3 blades would be useful only in low wind conditions, but in most cases there is more than adequate AVERAGE wind speeds to spin the rotor at its optimum RPM. In fact as wind speeds go up the blades are “feathered” to dump excess lift to prevent an RPM overspeed. read more
