Sprint training can and needs to be done in a short amount of total training time. You can’t keep up the intensity level necessary for your intervals to be called sprints for much longer than 20 minutes. I loved this. But it was also really taxing and so very hard to do at the end of a hard 8-10 hour work day (sprinting with my club team took place in the evenings). Whereas distance running, even when doing intervals 2-3 times a week (400s, 800s, 1ks, 2ks, tempo, hills) required, for me, much less intensity of focus. read more
