Why is kneeling on rice used as a punishment?

Yes its a very hurtful punishment. Im from the south as well. One day in middle school I cussed at a teacher. Her punishment for me was taking away recess. However she brought me into the teachers lounge and opened up a bag of rice and placed two piles in a corner. I had to roll up my jeans past my knees and endure a kneeling punishment for 20 minutes. read more
