Why is mathematics education in the United States so bad?

One huge problem is that the math curriculum got stuck in the 19th century, and all math is seen as a getting ready for Calculus. 'Good' math students make it through Calculus. Others will drop off somewhere along the way. The situation is pathetic. read more

To say mathematics education is bad in the US may be true collectively, but if you went to a school with a robust taxpayer base or an expensive private school, I am sure you would see a flourishing mathematics education. Either way, there is no arguing the prestige of US colleges. read more
