I don't think Rossini is an underrated composer at all. He achieved great fame during his lifetime and some of his operas are (still) frequently performed around the world. read more

Underrated in opera is a tough term - somewhere between 'under-performed', which is a measure against how often major companies put on a given work, and 'under-appreciated', which is a measure against perceived critical opinion. read more
