So Corsica is now French. It should be noted, however, that both Corsica and Sardinia retain very strong regional characters. Sardinia is part of modern day Italy , Corsica is not. The Kingdom of Sardinia was one of the driving forces behind Italian reuinification. Corsica however is still occupied by France (and possibly kept the island, as France supported the italians against the Austrian Empire). read more
