Scotland is much more mountainous than England or Wales. Mountains are less likely to have trees especially the higher you get, the Scottish Highlands are really high in altitude. Also Scotland is on a higher latitude than England and Wales and so is colder too. read more

Scotland, unlike England is mostly Highlands. This is the reason farmland and livestock are not as far flung as they are in England. Scotland as far as I am aware has plenty of trees the further north you go, as most of the southern regions are use for farmland/grazing because of better soil quality and flatter land. read more
