One reason I could see someone thinking that is that sharks are among some of the oldest species that haven't evolved much. They're already close to perfect killing machines, as are crocodiles and alligators. read more

The great white is considered the “ultimate killing machine” for 3 reasons. 1) After millions of years, the great white is the only shark to not evolve by more than 12% (Shark week August 1988) 2) After millions of years of evolution, the great white still retains the highest relation to the Megalodon shark which predated the dinosaurs. read more

The tiger shark is by no means the smartest predator. I have no idea where you could have got this from. Bears, wolves, crows, eagles, owls, all predators, all smarter than a tiger shark. read more
