The Louvre Pyramid, built in 1998 after a design by Chinese-American architect I.M. Pei, is actually the tip of a large underground extension aimed to provide the museum of a state-of-the-art entrance wing and located underneath the Napoleon Court (the large courtyard in the middle of the Louvre palace). read more
The main pyramid is accompanied by three smaller ones. They have been positioned to create light shafts for access to the museum’s collections. Lastly, the inverted pyramid is the one visible from underground, when you use the Carrousel entrance to the Louvre. read more
