Why is there an easter bunny?

The Easter Bunny (also called the Easter Rabbit or Easter Hare) is a folkloric figure and symbol of Easter, depicted as a rabbit bringing Easter eggs. In legend, the Easter bunny, also called the Easter hare and the spring bunny, brings baskets filled with colored eggs, candy, and sometimes toys to the homes of children on the night before Easter, in much the same way as Santa Claus is said to deliver presents on Christmas Eve. read more

The Easter Bunny didn't get his start that easily, though. At first, the concept was developed by German Protestants, who envisioned the Easter Bunny to function somewhat like Santa Claus.
