A long time ago, Gtown was asked to join the Ivy League on the condition that it dropped its Catholic Jesuit heritage. Gtown refused. Hence, Gtown is not in the Ivy League. read more

Probably, at the time the Ivy League was being formed, in the 1930s, it referred to buildings that were so old that they were covered with ivy. With the exception of Cornell, the Ivy League schools are about 100 years older than Georgetown. read more

Also, I couldn’t disagree more with the Ivy League Admissions advice person who claimed that Georgetown isn’t going to give you the same post grad opportunities/name recognition as the top Ivies. read more
