Why isn't Rugby popular in Germany?

Handball is more a North German Sport and similar to Rugby League is more in the small towns like Kiel, Lübeck, Lemgo etc popular rather than the big cities though Hamburg, Berlin and Magdeburg do have clubs in the top League. They have probably over 500K people playing across Germany. read more

But that said (and like the others have said) the Americans have their own variation of rugby -- what they call"football" -- which is huge in that country. There just isn't a whole lot of room left for any other football code. Even soccer struggles there. read more
