There is no rule that mangoes are not allowed to ripen on the plant. Mango are climacteric i.e. it can be ripen off the plant. Marketing is the key to whether it should be ripen on plant or off plant. I usually opt for tree ripen mangoes from my garden as they are more tasty and nutritious too. read more
