Actually river/lakes do have tides but they are not usually big enough to see.Tides are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon and, to a lesser extent, the sun on bodies of water.On the side of earth that faces the sun and moon, it's mainly the gravitational pull of these two bodies that draws the ocean water into a bulge. read more
