As a former distinguished general, de Gaulle was also entitled to burial in the military panthéon at Les Invalides, but is not buried there, either. Besides, why join 80 other Françaises et Français at the Panthéon when you can have your own monument at Colombey-les-deux-Églises, a tiny village where officers and statesmen all the way up to French presidents still make pilgrimages to pay their respects to the great general. read more
