The push to end the DV program is nothing new. In 2005, the House voted 273–148 to cancel the diversity visa program. (The Senate never voted on that bill and the effort died.) read more

Lottery winners must have a high school education or a work history to qualify to come to the United States. They also must be able to pay for travel to the United States and visa fees. In 2015, the U.S. gave 48,097 diversity visas. read more
